In this tutorial, we will show you how to create a Harry Potter magic spell effect using Adobe After Effects and the third-party plugin called Optical Flares. You can download the footage file and the free smoke element used in this tutorial.

Once you have the necessary files, drag your footage into a new composition in After Effects. Create a new solid layer for your flare. Go to Video Copilot in the effects panel to find and apply the Optical Flares effect.

Next, go to the lens object and apply the glow effect, customizing it until you achieve the desired look. Adjust the contrast and brightness, and change the colors to your preference.
